Health and Safety

Wordle: Health and safetyDuring the health and safety tutorial we were introduced to the equipment:

     Camera
     Tripod
     Battery
     Memory Card
     Flip Camera
     Hard Drive
We learnt how to safely operate each piece of equipment including battery insertion, tripod set up and take down, and memory card and hard drive usage. We learnt how to correctly operate the camera and it's settings and signed a document to show our understanding of the health and safety aspect of the course.

                 The Warriors
                                                 Opening Clip

This is the opening sequence to the cult classic,  The Warriors, it follows many of the conventions found in film openings.

    Production Company Logo
    Character Introduction

    Establishing shot of Coney Island

The shot of the train in the train station establishes the main locations of the film immediately.

The opening also introduces us to the situation concerning the main characters, this allows for the audience to have an understanding of what is to come and to an extent how events may unfold. It also helps set the mood and tone of the film (is it a serious situation or lighthearted?)  This can help define the genre of film the movie is trying to be stylized towards.

    Filming Practice

    Shot of walking 1
Doesn't look bad but is difficult to film well

    Shot of walking 2
Easier to film but not as effective

    Close up
Wrong thing in focus but rule of three is used successfully. No wasted space above head

    Over the shoulder shot
    Well framed and interesting angle

    Wide shot to show location
Shows location well but could be positioned better so as not to chop off feet

    Rule of thirds (good)
Eyes are in the top third of the screen

    Rule of thirds (bad)
Eyes aren't in the top third of the screen

    Lighting (good)
Well lit from all around. Natural lighting

    Lighting from behind (bad)
    Lighting behind causes shadowing
